Hi all,

I'm new to this club. I have a wrx 06.

I am thinking of installing tokico d-spec strut and RCE black spring. Could you recommend me a good local autoshop for installing?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the club :) I don't have alot of experience with local mechanics since I do all my own work, but I'm sure someone here can answer the question. Struts and springs are not exactly rocket science, so most any place would probably do a decent job.

We meet up most Wednesdays on campus, and when the weather cooperates we all park the cars together near the BJC and chat. Hope to see you out there, watch the Official News forum for updates and events.

welcome

I did my entire koni strut/spring set up in marks garage. took me 11 hours since i had no idea what i was doing and i was sick. basically its a very easy job if you have the directions with the new kit and know what you need from the old.

rent a spring compressor from advanced autoparts or $50 (youll get that back when you return it) and find a shop with a lift and air tools... easy

camber should be the only thing that changes. usually your camber is fine until you drop past and inch or inch and a haft. I recently bought a camber kit so a shop could align my car with out much of a problem.

Thanks for quick replies!

I didn't know, there is a weekly meeting.

I wish I could install them by myself, but I don't have any garage to work in and it is cold these days. hmm...

Is there any garage with lift that I can rent?

why yes indeed there is. ANd Welcome to the club. You need to talk to murky024 about the garage he has lift and tools that he'll let you use for a fee. You have to become a dues paying member first though. 20 for the year and that gets you a T-shirt. Also, I hope you'll be around for our street car challenge, car show, and scavenger hunt. hope to see you at a meeting.

if you happen to be in philly i got a great shop that recently opened up and their specialty is suspensions.

the owner is one of my good friends and has helped me with my suspension at times, sway bars and soon to be rear tie bars

The garage looks great. But it will be hard to work in this cold weather with dull hands. hmm...

I am in State College, I hope that I'm near Phily to let the professionals do the job.

Are they really that hard to do? Mine take about 40min-1hr tops per corner for someone who has never done it before.

Dude suck it up and work in the cold. Last winter when I went to school in Erie I helped a buddy replace brake calipers in 15 degree winter weather with a 20mph wind. I'm pretty sure you will survive. So stop bitching about it and get over it.

Well like it was said I do have a kero heater that will make the garage tollerable. If you plan on using my kero please be prepared to give some extra $ for what you burn.

Me and another club member changed the heads on my car in November last year in Mark's garage. It was comfortable in there, trust me.

I was out working in the garage yesterday, with the door open. It's insulated and really not bad at all if dress appropriately and wear mechanix gloves or similar.

Like dexter said, his car underwent major surgery here in the middle of the winter, it got done with no issues.

I am pretty sure this happened before I got the insulation up.
